Chef Hire Fee
The per-person prices above cover ingredients, cooking and service. A separate per-day chef hire fee covers the chef's time, transport and on-site labor, added once per meal service. It's shown clearly as its own line in your quote, with no surprises.
Groups of 10–20 guests require an assistant chef (+IDR 500,000 per meal session); groups of 21+ require two assistant chefs (+IDR 1,000,000 per meal session). Children under 5 don't count toward group size. The quote calculator adds this automatically.
Booking breakfast and dinner on the same day? Both fees apply, since the chef returns for a separate service. Your quote calculator handles all of this automatically.

How Much Does a Private Chef Cost in Bali?
Hiring a private chef in Bali is one of the most popular ways to elevate your villa holiday, and the good news is that it is far more affordable than most visitors expect. For a professional, all-inclusive private chef service in Bali, you can expect to pay between IDR 175,000 and IDR 750,000 per person per meal, depending on the type of meal and menu complexity. Breakfast packages tend to be the most budget-friendly option, starting from as low as IDR 85,000 for children and IDR 175,000 for adults. Lunch and dinner experiences range from IDR 300,000 to IDR 400,000 per person, while premium BBQ and seafood packages may reach IDR 750,000 per person for the freshest market catches and grilled specialties.
What makes private chef pricing in Bali exceptional value is the transparent, two-line nature of the service. The per-person menu price covers the chef personally shopping for the freshest ingredients at local Balinese markets, all food preparation and cooking at your villa, elegant restaurant-quality plating, attentive table service throughout the meal, and a thorough kitchen cleanup once you have finished dining. On top of that menu price you'll see a single, clearly labeled chef hire fee, IDR 600,000 per day for breakfast or lunch service and IDR 800,000 per day for dinner or BBQ, that covers the chef's time, transport and on-site labor. No other surcharges are added.
What Is a Reasonable Budget for a Chef?
A reasonable budget for a private chef in Bali depends on how many meals per day you would like covered and your group size. For a couple enjoying one dinner, budgeting IDR 500,000 to IDR 700,000 per person for a multi-course Balinese or Western dinner plus the IDR 800,000 chef hire fee is very comfortable. For a family of four wanting breakfast and dinner each day, plan for the per-person menu prices plus IDR 1,400,000 per day in chef hire fees (IDR 600,000 breakfast + IDR 800,000 dinner). Larger groups of 8 to 10 guests enjoy real per-person savings, since the chef hire fee is fixed per service and not per guest, the bigger your group, the better the value per head. Multi-day bookings offer additional value with special rates, making it genuinely affordable to have a private chef available throughout your entire stay.
Compared to dining out at mid-range to upscale restaurants in popular Bali areas like Seminyak, Canggu, or Ubud, a private chef service often works out to a similar or even lower per-person cost, with the added benefits of complete customization, privacy in your own villa, accommodation of all dietary needs, and zero time spent traveling to and from restaurants. For families with young children or groups with mixed dietary preferences, the convenience and flexibility of a private chef make it one of the best value dining options available in Bali.
